Slight

The desktop app for the Light Phone II

Text from your Mac. Keep your phone light.

Slight puts your Light Phone II conversations on your Mac. Read and send texts and photos, look up contacts and open your notes, over USB, Wi‑Fi or cellular.

macOS 13 or later · Apple silicon

Slight on a Mac: a conversation with Maya, including a sunrise photo, beside the list of conversations.
Why Slight

A phone built for less. A world that runs on texts.

The Light Phone II is made to be used as little as possible, and typing a long reply on its small E‑ink screen takes patience. Everyone else still texts: the group chat planning Saturday, the change to school pickup, the friend who needs an address right now.

And texts aren’t only words. The Light Phone II can’t show you the photo from the birthday party or open the link to the sign‑up sheet. With Slight, photos appear right in the conversation, you can send your own, and links open in your Mac’s browser.

Answer all of it from your Mac’s keyboard, then close the window. Your phone stays simple, and nobody is left waiting on you.

Features

The parts of your phone you need at a desk.

Messages, contacts and notes from your Light Phone II, in one quiet window on your Mac.

How it works

Your phone stays light.

No new launcher and no apps to open on the phone. Slight works alongside LightOS.

  1. Install Slight

Download the app and drag it into your Applications folder.

  2. Connect once over USB

Slight walks you through it: hold both volume buttons as you plug in your Light Phone II. It saves recovery files on your Mac, adds this computer’s key and restarts into LightOS.

  3. Go wireless if you like

Pair over USB to keep texting over Wi‑Fi or cellular when the cable is out.

LightOS stays your launcher and default messaging app. Slight’s connector runs in the background with no app icon, and setup doesn’t replace LightOS or the bootloader.

Privacy

Private by design.

Your messages travel between your Mac and your phone. Nobody in the middle can read them.

  • Encrypted end to endWi‑Fi and relay connections use AES‑256‑GCM with a key that’s set up over USB and stays on your devices.
  • A relay that can’t readWhen you’re away, the relay passes encrypted data between your Mac and phone and keeps no message history.
  • No accountSlight doesn’t ask for an email address, a phone number or a Light sign-in.
  • Metrics are opt-inOptional usage metrics are off by default and never include messages, contacts or notes.
FAQ

Questions

Which phones does Slight work with?

Slight is built for the Light Phone II (model TLP201) running LightOS. Other Light Phone models aren’t supported.

Can I send photos and open links?

Yes. The Light Phone II can’t show photos or open links on its own. Slight shows the photos people send you, sends yours as picture messages, group texts included, and opens links in your Mac’s browser with a click.

What do I need?

A Mac with Apple silicon running macOS 13 or later, your Light Phone II and a USB cable for the first connection.

Does Slight change my phone’s software?

Setup saves recovery files on your Mac, then adds your computer’s key so the phone trusts it over USB. It doesn’t replace LightOS or the bootloader, and LightOS stays your default messaging app.

Do I need to keep my phone plugged in?

No. After you pair once over USB, Slight connects over your local Wi‑Fi, or through an encrypted relay when your phone is on another network or cellular.

Can anyone read my messages on the relay?

No. Messages are encrypted between your Mac and phone with a key that never goes to the relay. It sees only encrypted data, its size and timing.

How does Slight stay up to date?

Slight checks for new versions, verifies each update’s signature and installs it when you restart the app. You can turn automatic updates off in Settings.

Is there a Windows or Linux version?

Not yet. Slight currently runs on Macs with Apple silicon.

Is Slight made by Light?

No. Slight is an independent app and isn’t affiliated with or endorsed by Light.

Put the phone down. Keep the conversation.
